God's Hammer Released

The Novel "God's Hammer ", written by Eric Schumacher and in which several members of the Viking Age Club - Sons of Norway served as historical consultants, has been released from Paul Mould Publishing. Here is a synopsis of "God's Hammer ":

935 AD: The North is in turmoil. Harald Fairhair, Norway's greatest King, has died leaving his high seat to his murderous son Erik Bloodaxe. To solidify his claim, Erik ruthlessly disposes of all opponents to his throne, save one.

Erik's surviving enemies send a ship to England where Hakon, Erik's youngest brother, is being fostered in the Christian court of King Athelstan. Unable to avoid his fate Hakon leaves the comforts of the English court to face his ruthless brother in the North. Armed with his dream of becoming Norway's first Christian King, yet confronted with the limitations of his youth and the hostility of the Pagans he would rule, Hakon Haraldsson discovers that true victory over Erik might come only by sacrificing that which he holds most dear, his ideals.

Decorah Iowa a Success

The Viking Age Club - Sons of Norway had a successful weekend in Decorah, Iowa. This year the weather cooperated with no rain and dry, warm temperatures. As many in the club know the Decorah event is known for high heat and humidity. This year our group had a new location just behind Vesterheim Museum that was even better then the old location we have had for many years. We look forward to setting up in this location in the many years hopefully to follow.
